The Grenoble-Isere Airport, also known as ‘Grenoble-Saint Geoirs’ Airport, is a small airport situated approximately 45 kilometres from the centre of the Grenoble City, close to the A48 Autoroute.
This airport has proven to be successful during recent years as it has experienced an increase in passenger numbers. Like the other airports in the region, Grenoble Airport has introduced low-cost airline connections. At the present, Easyjet.com and Ryanair.com, two of the biggest UK low-cost flight competitors operate from this airport. However, British Airways, Wizzair, Transavia and Polish Airlines also have regular flights paths going to Grenoble Airport too.
Over the recent years, the Grenoble Airport has become a favorite airport for skiers wishing to access the ‘Isere’ regional ski resorts. Most of these ski resorts can be reached within 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes from the airport:
- Alp d’Huez
- Alpe du Grand Serre
- Auris en Oisans
- Besse
- Les 2 Alpes
- La Grave
- Le Pleynet
- Vaujany
- Chamrousse
- Villard de Lans
- Les Sept Laux
Further afield, with a travelling time by car of 2 hours to 3 hours, passengers can access the following ‘savoyard’ ski resorts:
- Courchevel
- Val Thorens
- Les Menuires
- St Jean de Belleville
- La Tania
- La Clusaz
- La Plagne
- Les Saisies
- Les Sept Laux
- Peisey Vallandry
- Montalbert
- Montchavin
- Meribel
- Les Arcs
- La Rosiere
- Ste Foy
- Tignes
- Val D’Isere
- Valmorel
- Valmeinier
- St Francois Longchamp
- St Sorlin D’Arves
- St Jean De Maurienne
- Val Frejus
- Val Cenis
- La Toussuire
- Serre Chevalier
Considering the size of Grenoble Airport, it does offer good availability to passengers and very short transfer travelling times to some of the Isere ski resorts named above. However, passengers travelling to the Savoyard ski resorts must account for a journey with a travelling time of 2 to 3 hours.
Another bonus, due to the size of this airport, is that it normally only takes a matter of minutes for passengers to exit from an airplane, collect any baggage and start making their way to their ski resort.
